Galvanized Steel Wire Chain Link Fence with Concertina Coil Razor Barbed Wire.
Chain link fencing is a system based on single- or double-twist wire mesh. The mesh size varies from 30 x 30 mm to 70 x 70 mm, and is diamond-shaped. The wires of a chain link fence packaged in rolls have a thickness ranging from 2 mm to 4 mm in diameter. They are made with low-carbon steel. The galvanised wire is then coated with PVC or epoxy, a coating that is perfectly resistant to UV.
Chain link fabric is available in heights of 36inch, 42inch, 48inch, 60inch, 72inch, 84inch, 96inch, 120inch, and 144inch. The fabric is formed by weaving a series of spirals together. How the top and bottom of fence is finished is referred to as the selvage. Fences less than 72inch must knuckle both ends by industry standard (KK). Heights of 72inch and higher, are generally twisted or barbed at one end and knuckled (BK) on the other. For high security enclosures, chain link can be obtained with both ends twisted or barbed (BB).
Fabric comes in a variety of gauges. Gauge is the diameter of the wire; the higher the gauge number the smaller the wire diameter. Standard mill diameter tolerance is + or - .005inch. Common gauges and diameters are as follows:
- 6 gauge=0.192inch=4.88mm
- 9 gauge=0.148inch=3.76mm
- 11 gauge=0.120inch=3.05mm
- 11 ½ gauge=0.113inch=2.87mm
- 12 gauge=0.106inch=2.7mm
- 12 ½ gauge=0.099inch=2.5mm

- Post ties, rail ties and hog rings: 9 gauge, 0.148 in diameter.
- Tension wire: 7 gauge steel, 0.177 in. diameter.

- The size of your fence post depends on the nature of the project you're working on. For a light residential chain link fence, it's common to use 1 5/8" pipe for line posts and 2 1/2" pipe for terminal, corner, or gate posts. For commercial or industrial installations, line posts are typically either 2", 2 1/2", or 3" pipe, while terminal, corner, or gate posts can be anywhere between 3" and 8", depending on the size of the fence. Inspect your fence to determine the source of the sagging. Is the fabric loose when you move it side to side? Try restretching the fabric. Is the mesh taut but drooping in the middle of the fence line? Try adding more fence ties. Are any of your fittings broken or loose? Check the fittings of your fence to see if they need adjusted.
